Basic Rider Course (BRC) - $260

The Basic Rider Course is the best course for brand new riders or if you are returning to riding after a long absence. Motorcycles and helmets are provided for your use during the course. We offer this course in a variety of schedules at multiple locations throughout the year.

Pre-requisites:

  • Ability to balance and ride a bicycle
  • Possession of a valid driver's license

What to expect:

  • Online classroom (approx 5hrs)
  • Up to 10hrs riding

With the online classroom you'll learn about the layout and operation of the basic controls, basic motorcycle skills, strategies, traffic situations, and how to become a safer, more responsible rider. On the riding range, your MSF-certified Rider Coach will guide you through the basic skills of straight-line riding, stopping, shifting, and turning then gradually progress to more advanced road skills and strategies such as curve techniques, swerving, and emergency braking. Class sizes are limited so that each student gets as much coaching from our instructors as possible.

Licensing:

The Basic Rider Course includes the use of our 250cc motorcycles. Successful completion of this course will waive the riding portion of the Utah Motorcycle License Test up to the 649cc endorsement. 650cc+ Testing is held directly after class for those who wish to qualify for the “Unlimited License”. Required Riding Gear:

  • Full-fingered gloves, preferably leather, must fully cover hand and fingers.
  • Eye protection such as eyeglasses, sunglasses, safety glasses, or full-face helmet.
  • A long sleeve shirt or jacket.
  • Sturdy full-length pants, like blue-jeans. No holes or tares.
  • Shoes/boots must cover the ankle. Avoid large heels or steel-toes.
  • If you choose to bring your personal helmet it must be DOT approved.
